Hollywood A-list stars dazzle at 2014 Met Ball

Yet another year the stars delivered explosively at the annual met ball organized by vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York just as it is done yearly.

The stars came out to parade gorgeous outfits but as expected there were hits and there were misses but no one was exactly a plain jane. This year's event unlike last year's sojourn into the 'world of punk' saw its guest stars attired in a more glamorous dress code.

With the museum celebrating the opening of its exhibition dedicated to couturier Charles James the onlookers were entertained and treated by the sea of ball gowns floating through the red carpet.

While the likes of Blake Lively, Marion Cotillard, Beyonce, Gisele, Leighton Meester and Jessica Alba dared to bare in plunging necklines, some others like Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes and Suki Waterhouse embraced old school elegance.

For those that love edginess, a number of trends emerged with bared midriffs courtsey Rihanna, Cara Delevigne, Emma Stone and Anne Hathaway.
